It was General George Patton JR , who delivered the famous quote, “Pressure makes diamonds”. I find that quote quite fitting for the Indians as of late .These first three weeks have brought about three dates with top 10 (at time of the game) opponents.

Both teams were wrapping up non-conference action tonight, and to say 39-21 doesn’t paint an accurate picture would be an understatement. Both teams came out swinging like this contest was under the Queensbury Rules.

West Perry wasted no time at all on the game’s opening series as Bob Boden’s Mustangs executed the run with ease. Marching down the field until Brad Hockenberry powered it in from 27 yds out before three minutes had expired making it 7-0 Stangs.  Juniata went 3 and out the following drive. This gave  Bryce Smith a  wide open connection with Mustang’s quarterback, Quaker,  into the endzone making it 14-0 Mustangs at the end of the first quarter. The Indians got into the red zone on the next drive, almost punching it in, but they couldn’t  convert a 4th and goal.  Quaker would  then orchestrate a 99 yard touchdown drive, ending with a QB keeper into the end zone. The PAT was short leaving it 20-0. The Indians would finally get something going the following drive, however, as Hutchinson would barrel in from 10 yards out putting his team on the board with 2:19 to go in the first half, making it  20-7. West Perry would sprint the length of the field on the next drive, finding Bryce Smith for a score with 45 seconds remaining. The two conversion failed, leaving it  26-7 at the half.

The Indians came out swinging in the second half after Senior Nate Tyson recovered a fumble deep in Mustang territory. This enabled Hutchinson to cash in for TD number two. The PAT was good making it  26-14 with 2:25 left in the third quarter. Condo’s  Indians would continue the comeback, as they were able to cash in a few drives later on a Shepps fade route with 5:45 to go in the ball game and a score of 26-21, Mustangs still leading. The Mustangs came out firing the following drive, and  they would hit Ian Goodling for a 64 yard score.  With just a few ticks short of 4:45 to go, the  Stangs would start to pull away, leaving it 32-21 after a failed two point conversion. West Perry would get the ball right back after a muffed kick return, but the Indian defense would stand tall on the next drive. The Indians got  the ball back with 1:09 to go in the game. Wyatt Ehrenzeller would take a sack on both 1st and 2nd downs, before throwing a pick six to Jensen Hockenberry-Folk as time expired.

Coach Bob Boden on whether he was happy with his team’s performance, “ Ya know I’m always happy with a win, but there are definitely things we need to work on before Trinity next week”.
