Girls basketball roundup: Fairmont Prep, Santa Margarita, Dana Hills and JSerra win tournaments

Adyra Rajan scored 26 points and added 11 rebounds and Sarah Aldeguer earned MVP honors as Fairmont Prep’s girls basketball team captured its third consecutive tournament by defeating host Glendora 63-45 in the finals of the Glendora tournament Saturday night.

The Huskies (16-3), ranked eighth in Orange County, avenged an earlier loss to Glendora at the early-season Oxford Academy tournament. Both teams are grouped in Division 2AA for the CIF-SS playoffs.

Fairmont Prep’s run of tournament titles started with Villa Park’s Winter Shootout and continued in the Mike Desper Division at the Nike TOC in Arizona.

Aldeguer was joined on the all-tournament team by fellow sophomore Rajan and senior Jazzy Mercado.

In the SoCal Holiday Prep Classic in San Diego:

In the NAIA Gold Division:

Santa Margarita 46, Woodbridge 40: Senior guard Hana Watanabe scored 17 points in the loss for the Warriors. Both teams entered the final 3-0 at the tournament.

In the NCAA Gold Division:

Oak Park 59, El Dorado 37: Delaney Shiring scored 18 points in the loss for the Golden Hawks (11-4) against the Division 3AA Eagles.

In the NIT Silver Division:

Peninsula 62, El Toro 59 (OT): Sophomore Mia Cubacub scored 23 points in the final for the Chargers (11-6).

In the Costa Mesa Classic:

Dana Hills 66, Anaheim 49: Freshman Kayla Rice scored 18 points en route to MVP honors and Lola Bellon added 13 points as the Dolphins (14-2) handed the Colonists (14-1) their first loss.

In the Christina Mauser Memorial Tournament:

Mira Costa 47, West Torrance 37: The Mustangs (15-2) claimed the title at Edison after edging Portola 51-50 on Friday. Mira Costa bounded back after falling to Los Alamitos in the final of the Segerstrom tournament.

In the Savanna Holiday Classic:

JSerra 55, Valencia 39: Freshman Eden Hoff scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Shae Talleur earned MVP honors Friday as the Lions (18-1) won their third tournament. JSerra also claimed their division at the San Pedro tournament and won the Rosemead tournament.
