Southern's Tommy Deakyne Recently Honored as NJ High School Volleyball Player of the Year

At the conclusion of the Spring 2021 season, Southern Regional Boys Volleyball Player Tommy Deakyne was named New Jersey State Player of the Year by NJ.com.

Deakyne is the sixth player in school history to be named to such a great honor. Coach Eric Maxwell has developed an elite volleyball program in New Jersey.

Deakyne had one of the greatest years in Southern history. He had 323 kills and helped lead Southern to the state championship game. He has been named the NJ.com Player of the Year for 2021.
