Santa Margarita’s boys and girls swimming teams swept titles and the individual awards at the 50th Foothill Swim Games on Saturday at Foothill High.

The Eagles’ girls scored 758 points to outdistance runner-up Beckman at 471.

Santa Margarita’s boys tallied 706.5 points to outpace runner-up Foothill at 395.5.

The CIF-SS and state powerhouse also crowned the swimmers of the meet in Gracyn Aquino and Daniel Verdolaga.

Aquino, a junior, swept the 50 (23.17 seconds) and 100-yard freestyles (51.47).

Verdolaga, a senior committed to Army, captured the 200 individual medley (1:49.91) and 100 butterfly (48.60).

Verdolaga also raced on the Eagles’ 200-yard medley relay that set the meet record. He combined with Ramon Jiang, Nathan Wu and Jerry Yan to blaze a 1:31.88, which sliced almost a second off Northwood 2018 mark of 1:32.83.

The tradition-rich meet remained small despite changing its date to early in the season.
