Salem-Roanoke Baseball Hall of Fame holds 2nd annual Senior Last Inning Doubleheader

For the second straight year, the Salem-Roanoke Baseball Hall of Fame and the Salem Red Sox sponsored a senior baseball game doubleheader Saturday at Haley Toyota Field.

Nearly 50 recent high school grads from schools from the eight-county region served by the hall of fame make up the 4 teams playing in the double header of the seniors last inning! In Game One, between the Red Team and The Blue Team, it was Red over Blue 7-1. In Game Two, between the Green Team and the Grey Team it was Grey getting the win over Green 11-2.

Also in between the first and second game, the hall of fame committee announced its Ray Bellamy Award for its prep player of the year as well as the Posey Oyler Scholarship recipient. The Ray Bellamy prep player of the year winner was William Byrd High School grad in pitcher player Tyler Dean. Dean will play baseball at Virginia Tech. The Posey Oyler Scholarship Award winner was North Cross School grad in pitcher and shortstop Davis Yeaman. Yeaman will play baseball at Ferrum College.
