Riley honored at 2021 Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame Induction

Saturday, former Warren Central High School Basketball Head Coach Tim Riley got inducted into the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame.

His 27-year career includes over 500 wins, multiple regional titles, and a 2004 state championship, but Riley says this honor goes at the top of his list.

“I told somebody that wouldn’t get going into the Hall of Fame is bigger, personally, than winning the state championship, which was an unbelievable event for a guy that grew up in his state and loved high school basketball,” Riley said. “Everybody that I’ve ever coached is part of this. All the schools I worked at, and all the people that cared about me and cared about my family and my players, I wish I could share it with all of them. And I hope they know, appreciate them.”

At Warren Central, Riley spent 20 years helping the Dragons keep up elite status. He is currently the head coach of Owensboro Catholic and is ready for the 2021-22 season.

“I think we’ll have a good team,” the seven-year Owensboro Catholic Head Coach said. “You know, even if I coach, you know, another 10 years, I’m toward the end of my run as a coach. It was a little humbling and have so many people reach out to me today and the last couple of days. I just can’t tell you the good feeling I have in my heart.”

Riley was one of 12 inductees in this year’s hall of fame induction class.

The Owensboro Catholic Aces will return to action later this year.
