Preseason all-Bay Area News Group high school football 2023: Wide receivers/tight ends



Wide receivers

Daven Amos, Clayton Valley, 6-3, 190, senior

A three-star prospect, per 247Sports. Had a big junior season, catching 86 passes for 1,164 yards and 12 TDs.

Brooks Davis, Heritage, 6-0, 170, senior

Three-star rating with multiple offers. Will have a much larger role for the Brentwood school this season after catching five TD passes as a junior.

Kai Hamilton, Valley Christian, 6-2, 178, senior

Three-star prospect has an offer from Washington State. Caught 20 passes as a junior last season, three of them for touchdowns.

Tyrone Jackson, Riordan, 6-3, 180, senior

Transferred to Riordan from Oakland Tech. Rated a three-star by 247Sports and Rivals. Has offers from five Power 5 schools, including four in the Pac-12. Should team up nicely with Riordan’s collection of talent.

Paul Kuhner, Acalanes, 6-0, 175, senior

Along with Trevor Rogers, he’ll provide sprinter speed that should make things difficult for defensive backs. Three-star prospect has eight offers. Ran a leg on 4×100 state runner-up. Had 22 receptions for 441 yards last season.

Chris Lawson, Riordan, 6-0, 175, junior

Four-star prospect transferred to Riordan from Foothill in Pleasanton over the spring, giving the San Francisco school another talent in its quest for a big turnaround. Has 13 offers, including eight from Pac-12 schools.

Kyon Loud, Serra, 6-2, 180, senior

In his second year at Serra after transferring from Bishop O’Dowd, where he stood out as a sophomore. Rated a three-star by 247Sports. Has offers from UC Davis, Idaho and Portland State.

Scott Lyon, Campolindo, 5-10, 170, senior

Campo’s top returning receiver after catching 46 passes for 457 yards and four TDs last season. Will have a much larger role this fall, taking over the No. 1 spot from Robbie Mascheroni, who graduated.

Kyan Phillips, Lincoln-San Jose, 5-11, 175, sophomore

Had a breakout year in 2022, earning freshman of the year honors in the BVAL Mt. Hamilton after catching 35 passes for 781 yards and eight TDs.

Trevor Rogers, Acalanes, 6-3, 200, senior

Three-star rating and a Cal commit. Ran a leg on Acalanes’ 4×100 relay team, which finished second at the CIF state meet in May. Has 15 offers. Caught 58 passes for 1,120 yards and 15 TDs in 2022.

Ellijah Washington, Castlemont, 5-11, 175, junior

Will play a big role for a Castlemont team coached by his father, Edward. Has offers from Cal, Arizona, Oregon State, Washington State and San Jose State.

Tight ends

Kellan Ford, Monte Vista, 6-6, 225, junior

Has offers from Cal, Washington, San Jose State and UNLV. “Big target with incredible ball skills. Extends the field vertically and is a physical blocker,” Monte Vista coach Johnny Millard said.

Cole Harrison, Serra, 6-6, 220, senior

Three-star prospect with eight offers, including Air Force, Army, UC Davis and UNLV. Will be one of many targets at QB Maealiuaki Smith’s disposal.

Wyatt Hook, Homestead, 6-6, 235, senior

Oregon State commit is rated a three-star by 247Sports and Rivals. He is a three-year varsity starter for the Cupertino school.

Tony Keck, Clayton Valley, 6-4, 205, junior

Transferred to Clayton Valley from College Park. The three-star prospect, per 247Sports, has an offer from UNLV.

Alek Marshall, Menlo-Atherton, 6-7, 230, senior

M-A coach Chris Saunders calls the senior “a mismatch nightmare.” Rated a three-star by 247Sports. San Jose State is among the schools to offer. Caught 31 passes and four TDs last season.
