Port Authority police will help pay tribute to the heroes of 9/11 during ceremonies at Monday’s Cedar Grove vs. Wallkill Valley High School football game.
The ceremony will start at 3:30 p.m. at Cedar Grove High School, 90 Rugby Road, with the Port Authority Police Department Pipes and Drums Band and Honor Guard. The Pipe and Drum and honor guard was part of numerous 9/11 anniversary ceremonies, including Saturday night’s Mets-Yankees game at Citi Field.
Port Authority Police retired Chief of Department Joseph Morris will perform the coin toss while each football player will wear a World Trade Center sticker on their helmet.
The WTC Memorial Fund and the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association (PAPBA) will present each player with a PAPBA Challenge Coin.
The Port Authority Police Department lost 37 officers during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11. 2001, on the World Trade Center, more than any other police department in a single incident.
