Plans under way for LCC's subsequent yearly secondary school volleyball competition in memory of Jessica Ramsey

Eight nearby secondary schools will contend at the second yearly Lenoir Community College secondary school volleyball competition in memory of Jessica Ramsey. Games will begin at 9 a.m. August 14 on the Coach Bobby Dawson Court in the LCC Student Center.

Admission to the competition is $5. Shirts will be available to be purchased and a quiet closeout will run the main portion of the day. All returns and gifts will be given to the Jessica Ramsey Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Ramsey was a lesser at South Lenoir High School and played in the volleyball crew just as the Lenoir Fusion travel group. “Jessica was a one of a kind part in that she was striking, obstinate just as agreeable and mindful by and by. She cherished the game and gave her all when I instructed her in movement season,” said LCC Head Volleyball Coach Lee Avery. “Losing her was an effect on loved ones as well as to the local area too, including school and club games.”

“This competition is ideally a token of why these youngsters play this game, for the pleasure, contest, and probability of playing at more elevated levels,” he said. “It permits neighborhood that she either played possibly in support of to meet up in her name to assist with fund-raising for a grant that one of those players can accomplish. Having this grant will permit a nearby player to achieve that fantasy about playing volleyball after secondary school in an extremely serious climate.”

Last year, LCC couldn’t have this competition because of COVID-19. LCC is amped up for aiding secondary schools start off their seasons by aiding store the grant that will be set up in memory of Ramsey. When this grant is blessed through the LCC Foundation, it will be granted to a neighborhood volleyball player keen on playing at LCC.
