There were nine District 9 football players named to the 2022 PFN Coaches Class 1A All-Star team.  Two made the All-State first team and seven made the second team.  Seven were offensive all-stars and two broke into the all-state defensive line-up.

Port Allegany, a state semi-finalist, placed three on the all-state roster, while Brockway and Redbank Valley garnered two each.  District 9 Class A football has improved the past couple of years and now can compete with the best in the state.  In fact, six of the nineteen second team offensive all-stars are from District 9.

Blaine Moses (#16) and Noah Archer (#20)

Making first team were Tyler Albright of the Keystone Panthers at the slot back/H back position and Port Allegany’s Blaine Moses at at the middle linebacker position.  Albright had 32 catches for 590 yards and 10 TDs.  He also ran the ball 100 times, gaining 716 yards and scoring a handful of touchdowns.  Moses has a nose for the ball and was all over the field on defense.  He led the Gators in tackles with 150.

QB Danny McGarry (Curwensville), WR Alex Carlson (Brockway), SB/HB Tate Minich (Redbank Valley), Ath. Noah Archer (Port Allegany), OG Reese Yahner (Brockway), LS Carsen Rupp (Redbank Valley), and DE Miska Young (Port Allegany) were all named by the coaches to the all-state second team.

(Carlson (#11) and Yahner (#67)

McGarry threw for over 2,000 yards and 21 TDs while rushing for over 1,000 and scoring 13 TDs.  Carlson hauled down 89 passes for 1,064 yards and 14 touchdowns.  Minich caught 50 passes for 715 yards and 10 scores.  Archer rushed for 970 yards on 162 totes.  He snared 66 passes for 820 yards and 8 TDs.  And he returned kicks for over 300 yards.  Yahner led Brockway’s second half of the season resurgent Brockway rushing game in addition to providing excellent protection for their young quarterback.  Young was a dominant force on defense with 67 tackles and 5 sacks.  He actually is a pretty darn good offensive lineman too.
