Longest girls basketball win streaks

When Mason defeated Mount Notre Dame (Cincinnati) in Ohio’s Division 1 regional final, it ended the longest active girls basketball win streak in the nation at 98 games in a row.

Some will argue that the Cougars’ streak ended Dec. 2 at 79 with a loss to Princeton. However, a self-reported violation by Princeton resulted in a forfeit win for Mount Notre Dame, which went on to win 18 more games (including a 62-50 playoff win over Princeton) before falling to Mason on March 5.

The 98-game win streak ranks 36th all-time while West Holmes (Millersburg) holds on to the state record with 108 wins in a row (1984-86).

Incarnate Word Academy (St. Louis), No. 10 in the MaxPreps Top 25, now holds the longest active win streak at 67. The Red Knights have posted back-to-back 29-0 seasons and also won their final nine games of 2020.

Cedar Park (Texas), No. 11 in the MaxPreps Top 25, is close behind with 62 straight, including 37 this year and 25 in a row in 2021. Hazel Green (Ala.) is the only other school over 50 with 59 in a row. Its win total helped propel the Trojans to a No. 13 rank. A total of 58 schools have a 20-game win streak heading into next year, including national No. 1 Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.).
