Jurrion Dickey, No. 2-ranked WR in America, to transfer from Valley Christian

Five-star wide receiver and Oregon commit Jurrion Dickey is no longer enrolled at Valley Christian and is believed to be moving to Southern California, the high school’s longtime coach, Mike Machado, told the Bay Area News Group on Thursday.

Dickey’s family did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

Machado said the move is not related to football and that he harbors no ill will toward Dickey or his family.

“As I talked with him, it seemed to be the case that it was a better situation for his family,” Machado said. “Jurrion is a great kid and we’re going to miss him, and we wish him the very best and will be rooting him on from up here.”

Machado said he did not know exactly where Dickey will be attending his senior year of high school.

If Dickey is moving south, one possible landing spot is national power Mater Dei of Santa Ana, which has gotten high-profile transfers from Northern California schools in recent years.

For instance, Mater Dei nabbed then-sophomore halfback Raleek Brown from Stockton in 2020. Brown became a four-star recruit and is going to begin his freshman season at USC this autumn.

Dickey, who has been on Valley Christian’s varsity team since his freshman year, caught 78 passes for 1,304 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior.
