Greenwich High School Hires New Girls Swimming And Diving Coach

Greenwich High School has announced the hiring of a new head girls swimming and diving coach, according to a news release.

Brendan Heller will replace Lorrie Hokayem, who resigned at the end of last season after several successful years as head coach for the Cardinals.

Heller was the head varsity swimming and diving coach for the boys program at Woodland Regional High School this past year. During his time there, Heller guided the squad to their best season in school history, breaking multiple school records.

Heller isn’t a stranger to Greenwich. Prior to his time at Woodland, according to the news release, he was the head coach for the girls swimming and diving team at Sacred Heart Greenwich. His teams there compiled a 36-16-1 dual meet record over four years. Heller was also the head boys coach at Iona Prep, where he was named the New York CHSAA Division II Coach of the Year for going undefeated in 2016.

Previously, Heller has been an assistant swimming coach for the men and women programs at Carnegie Mellon University where he helped lead 24 student-athletes to achieve CSCAA Division III All-American status during the 2019-20 season. Heller has also been the Riverside Yacht Club head swim coach and Aquatics Director for their summer program for the last four years.
