Girls basketball roundup: Orange Lutheran, Fairmont Prep, Buena Park, Beckman reach CIF quarterfinals

Orange Lutheran girls basketball is used to being the last team standing in the CIF-SS playoffs.

On Saturday, the Lancers defeated visiting Long Beach Poly 64-48 in the second round of the Division 1 playoffs to emerge as the last Orange County team alive in the bracket.

Fourth-seeded Orange Lutheran (20-7) advanced to the Wednesday’s quarterfinals at Oxnard.

The Lancers are the defending Division 1 champion. They won the Division 2AA title in 2022.

Also in Division 1:

Lynwood 58, Esperanza 49: Madi Lam scored 25 points in the loss for the visiting Aztecs (25-5).

Santiago Corona 60, San Juan Hills 42: Senior Sydney Peterson scored 16 points and added six rebounds and eight steals for the visiting Stallions (19-11).

Redondo 66, Portola 50: Nina Saiki scored 21 points in the loss for the host Bulldogs (23-6).

In Division 2AA

Fairmont Prep 68, Rialto 45: Adyra Rajan and Jazzy Mercado each scored 15 points and Sarah Aldeguer added 12 to lead the host Huskies (22-8). Fourth-seeded Fairmont Prep will play at No. 5 Buena Park in the quarterfinals on Wednesday for a trip to the semifinals and regional playoffs.

Buena Park 71, Los Osos 56: Gloria Barrera scored 25 points and Bella Harmon added 19 to lead the visiting Coyotes (21-9).

In Division 2A:

Beckman 54, Los Alamitos 42: Kayli Liew scored 16 points for the Griffins but the Patriots (20-8) advanced to Wednesday’s quarterfinals at Lakewood.
