Mater Dei’s stable of quarterbacks is always closely watched, even below the No. 1 spot on the depth chart.

Furian Inferrera, who will be a freshman in the fall, will certainly attract attention once be begins competing in summer football workouts with the Monarchs.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound quarterback recently confirmed that he has registered to attend Mater Dei and plans to begin summer practice on June 14.

Inferrera moved to Southern California from Nevada in the spring. He holds scholarship offers from Pittsburgh, Nebraska, Hawaii and Utah Tech.

“He has a chance to be really good,” recruiting analyst Greg Biggins of 247Sports said. “(He’s) already very polished at a young age. Pretty pure thrower as well.”

Mater Dei has its No. 1 quarterback for this fall. Senior Elijah Brown, set to become a four-year starter, returns to lead the Trinity League team.

Brown is 29-1 as a starter and has guided the the Monarchs to three consecutive undefeated Trinity League titles along with CIF-SS Division 1 and CIF state championships in 2021.

Brown was recently named one of the Elite 11 finalists.

Mater Dei’s stable of quarterbacks includes sophomore Cole Leinart, son of USC Heisman Trophy winner and former Monarchs standout Matt Leinart. Cole has several offers, including ones from Colorado, Pittsburgh and UNLV.

Mater Dei’s legacy at the position grew in April as Bryce Young was selected No. 1 by the Carolina Panthers in NFL draft.
