Former Arizona high school basketball standouts Nico Mannion, Josh Green set to play in Tokyo Olympics

Former Phoenix Pinnacle guard Nico Mannion will represent Italy and former Glendale Mountain Ridge and Hillcrest Prep guard Josh Green will represent Australia later this summer in the Tokyo Olympics.

Mannion and Green were college basketball teammates at Arizona and just played their rookie NBA seasons. Mannion plays for the Golden State Warriors, and Green for the Dallas Mavericks.

Before his senior season at Pinnacle, Mannion, who reclassified up a year in high school, spent the summer playing on Italy’s national team.

Basketball in the Summer Games begins July 23 in Japan.

Green moved from Australia with his family before starting high school at Mountain Ridge. After leading Mountain Ridge in scoring his freshman year, he left to play at Hillcrest Prep, where center Deandre Ayton was starring for the national high school team.

Green played his final high school season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
