The Moncks Corner Lions Club high school football jamboree is slated to entertain fans of teams from all over Berkeley County and offers up a sneak peek of each squad.
The annual jamboree at Berkeley High School’s Gerald Moody Field kicks off at 6 p.m. on Aug. 13. Admission is $8 and each contest is two quarters. Tickets can be purchased at the gate.
Six of the eight teams participating are from the Berkeley County School District and two others will roll into town from nearby school districts. Each matchup will give a school from a smaller classification the opportunity to test themselves against a larger school.
The opening contest pits Class AAAAA Cane Bay against Class AAA Hanahan, followed by Class AAAAA Stratford versus Class AA Philip Simmons.
Class AAAAA Goose Creek tangles with Class AA Andrews in the third quarter and the host team squares off with Class AAAA Colleton County in the finale.
The event is the final dress rehearsal of the preseason for four teams: Hanahan, Goose Creek, Philip Simmons and Colleton County open the regular season on Aug. 20.
The first full week of the regular season is Aug. 27.
