El Paso high school sports: Eastwood, Franklin fill soccer coaching positions

Several schools are filling vacant head coaching jobs. Here is a look at some recent hires.

Eastwood, Franklin soccer jobs filled

  • Victor Valle, who graduated from Americas in 2007, played at the University of Southwest in Hobbs and played for El Paso Paso Patriots, a former pro team in El Paso, is the new girls soccer coach at Franklin. Valle has been coaching soccer in Houston for several years, working with kids of various ages.

“It’s great to be back home,” Valle said. “Franklin has a great history and has achieved a great deal of success in recent years. I’m looking forward to working with the team and helping them develop even more.”

Franklin won the District 1-6A championship last season and won a bi-district title in the post season.

Bryan Carbajal is the new boys soccer coach for Eastwood. The 31-year-old Carbajal played high school soccer at Ysleta, has coached club soccer in El Paso and was most recently an assistant coach at Bel Air High School, where he was an assistant on the boys team, which won the Class 5A state championship.

“‘I’m really excited about this challenge,” Carbajal said. “I’m really excited about helping the student-athletes at Eastwood continue to grow and get the opportunity to play at the next level. District 1-6A is a great district to compete in and we’ll set our goals high.”

Fabens hires three coaches

Fabens, which competes in Class 4A has hired three coaches. Ricardo Pacheco is the new girls soccer coach, Erica Johnson is the new boys soccer coach and Sal Cedillo is the new girls basketball coach.
