Harrisburg: Jeff Hoenstine was stopped at the goal line on the game’s final play as the East held on for a 41-34 victory.

The West Squad took over at their 25-yard line with 1:42 to play and drove 74 yards in 13 thirteen plays but failed to get the remaining yard as time expired.

Central’s record-setting quarterback Jeff Hoenstine converted a fourth-and-two from his 32-yard line before connecting with Richland’s Grayden Lewis to the East 15-yard line with under a minute to play and no timeouts.

On third-and-goal, Hoenstine scrambled to the 1-yard line setting the stage for the game’s final snap with eight seconds to play.

On the ensuing play, Hoenstine took the snap under center for a quarterback sneak and surged forward but couldn’t cross the goal line.

Hoenstine completed 12-of-24 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

The East Squad had taken a two-touchdown lead in the fourth quarter when Nick Frame scored on a 10-yard run with 6:02 to play.

The West responded when Central Clarion’s Ashton Rex caught a 3-yard touchdown from Penn Cambria’s Garrett Harrold with 3:17 to play.

On the following drive for the East Squad, they were forced to punt for the only time in the second half – setting the stage for the fantastic finish.

Northern Lehigh’s Frame scored his first touchdown on a 1-yard run early in the fourth quarter to give the East a 34-20 lead before Redbank Valley’s Aiden Ortz returned the next kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown.

Frame rushed for 41 yards on six carries and scored two touchdowns while 3-of-4 passes for 99 yards and tossing a third.

The teams traded fourth-quarter touchdowns rapidly, with three in the first 2:12 of the final stanza.

Both teams began the second half with long scoring drives as East took the ball and ate up 7:16 off the third clock, capped off with Berks Catholic’s Josiah Jordan catching his second touchdown from six yards out.

Jordan’s 47-yard reception from Frame gave the East a 14-7 lead in the second quarter. Josiah Jordan led all receivers with ten grabs for 138 yards.

The West then went on a 9-play 60-yard drive with Grayden Lewis’ 16-yard touchdown reception from Hoenstine to open the fourth quarter.

Lewis led the West Squad with five receptions for 84 yards and the touchdown.

The East Squad opened the scoring taking their first possession 68 yards in nine plays, with North Lehigh’s Izaiah Ramos catching a 16-yard touchdown from Hamburg Area’s Xander Menapace.

The West countered with second-quarter scores as Garrett Harrold scored on a 1-yard run and Slippery Rock’s John Sabo, a 26-yard reception from Hoenstine capping off 68 and 67-yard drives, respectively.

Cade Christopher’s 48-yard reception set up the East Squad’s final first-half score as Menapace scored on a 4-yard keeper.

The first half concluded with an interception by Northern Lehigh’s Ethan Karpowich as Hoenstine’s pass was deflected at the line of scrimmage. The series was set up after a muffed punt at the East 19-yard line.
