D’Cean Bryant leaves Fountain Valley to become basketball coach at Sage Hill

D’Cean Bryant is leaving Fountain Valley to become boys basketball coach at Sage Hill, Fountain Valley High School announced Friday.

Bryant was the Orange County boys basketball coach of the year in the 2019-20 season in which the Barons advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division 3A semifinals and to the Division III semifinals in the CIF Southern California Regionals. He coached the Barons for five seasons.

Sage Hill is a private school in Newport Beach. It will play in the Pacific Coast League for all sports for the first time this coming school year, having been in the all-private school Academy League for many years. Sage Hill was 15-11 overall and 6-2 in league in the 2021-22 season.

His son Carter Bryant (6-6) was All-Sunset League first team this past season as a sophomore. Carter Bryant’s school status for the 2022-23 school year was not included in the Fountain Valley announcement. He reportedly has scholarship offers from UCLA, USC, Arizona, San Diego State and several others.
