Berks Catholic grad Lexi Leddy takes over as Saints girls volleyball coach

Lexi Leddy, a former Class 2A All-State player at Berks Catholic, has been hired to coach the Saints girls volleyball team.

Leddy, 22, helped Berks Catholic go 23-0 and win the PIAA Class 2A championship as a senior in 2015. She replaces Heleanna Davison, who guided the Saints to an 11-4 record last year and the Berks League playoffs in her only season. She remains the Berks Catholic boys coach.

Leddy served as a volunteer assistant for Denny Werner last year at Wilson, which won the Berks title and reached the District 3 Class 4A final.

“I really wasn’t looking for a head coaching position; it just happened,” she said. “It fell in my lap, and I’m very grateful for that. I don’t think I could do it anywhere better than my alma mater. I’m super excited about that.”

Leddy helped the Saints win two league and two District 3 Class 2A titles as a player in 2014-15. She ended her high school career as the school’s all-time leader in digs with 825, including 359 as a senior. She also made the All-District 3 Class 2A second team.

She went on to play libero at Jefferson University, where was a four-year regular and finished as the school’s all-time digs leader with 1,585. She graduated in 2020 with a degree in criminal justice.

“I definitely wanted to stay in the game,” Leddy said. “I took the end of my playing career pretty hard. I obviously still want to be around the game. Denny gave me an opportunity to gain coaching experience last year, which was very nice of him.”

She has coached for the East Coast Power Volleyball Club.

“I really enjoyed the girls,” Leddy said. “It was so different being in charge of the team and actually calling the shots. I really liked it. I definitely wanted to continue that.
