Alpena’s DenBleyker caps off high school tennis career with all-state recognition

The Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association (MHSTCA) released its all-state tennis teams for the 2021 spring season. Alpena’s Gwyn DenBleyker was the only area athlete that received all-state recognition.

For the hard work she put in, DenBleyker was named first team all-state in Division 2, finishing with a 21-3 record. With her stellar play on the court, she punched her ticket to states for the second time in her high school career.

“I was shocked,” said DenBleyker. “Even though my turnout at states wasn’t the best, I was still seen for how hard I played during the season. It’s definitely an honor.”

Back in 2018, DenBleyker became the first freshman in the Alpena girls tennis program to compete at the state level.
